About Us

West Solent Solar Cooperative is the brainchild of Anthony Woolhouse and reflects his Quaker concern that community owned and managed renewable energy production is the right response to the problems of climate change.

The Co-operative was formally created on the 16th August 2013 by Anthony Woolhouse, Cathy Cook and Jonathan Blease who were at that time working together in the New Forest Transition group. The board was then strengthened by the addition of three other local people involved in renewable energy and sustainability, Kate Chapman, Rob Dewing and Patrick Andrews along with John Malone from Energy4All.

Anthony Woolhouse retired from the Board in March 2023.

Currently, our directors are Jeremy Anson, Jonathan Blease, Cathy Cook (Chairman), Rob Dewing, John Malone, Roger Munford, Jessie Rogers and Barry Smith who are all passionate about solar power and what it can do for our communities.
